Weather for the coming
week, issued on Saturday 3rd March 2012
Features:
The coming week
will be dominated by high pressure; settled, dry, and
often sunny. The high pressure is currently centred just
to our south but will move right over us as today
progresses and will stay there till the middle of the
week. It will then drift slowly eastwards and low pressure
will approach us from the north west right at the end of
the week.
Precipitation:
Today will be mainly dry but there is a small
risk of a little patchy light drizzle through till the mid
afternoon when it will become dry.
Tomorrow (Sunday) will be dry all day.
Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday will be dry all day with a
lot of sun.
Thursday and Friday look like seeing the return of rain.
Wind:
Today it will be westerly, light (average 4-7
MPH), veering north westerly this evening.
Tomorrow it will be south westerly, light (average 4-7
MPH), veering northerly in the late evening.

Update
on Sunday 11th March 2012
Features:
High pressure is
now centred over us and will stay there till the middle of
the week. It will then drift eastwards, allowing low
pressure to move over the north of the UK.
Precipitation:
Today, tomorrow,
Tuesday, and Wednesday it will be dry with frequent sunny
periods.
Thursday should be dry in the morning with light rain
starting in the afternoon.
Friday looks likely to be similar to Thursday, with a dry
morning and light rain in the afternoon and evening.
Wind:
As we are at the
centre of the high pressure, the wind is extremely light
to calm and is moving in very small circles. It is
therefore difficult to predict precise directions but I
will try my best.
Today it will be north westerly, light (average 4-7 MPH),
veering northerly during the morning.
Tomorrow it will be south easterly, light (average 4-7
MPH), veering southerly around midday, then south westerly
during the afternoon and becoming calm in the evening.

Update
on Monday 12th March 2012
Features:
The high pressure
is still centred over us and is set to start drifting
eastwards on Wednesday. This will then allow low pressure
to move closer to us and there is sign of low pressure
forming over us at the weekend.
Precipitation:
Today, tomorrow,
and Wednesday will be dry with long sunny periods.
Thursday should remain dry but with a little more cloud.
Friday should be dry in the morning but a band of light
rain should move in from the north west during the
afternoon and evening.
Wind:
Today it will be
calm to light (average 4-7 MPH) but could be from any
direction as it constantly changes throughout the day.
Tomorrow will be the same as today.

Update
on Tuesday 13th March 2012
Features:
Today the high
pressure remains centred over us. Tomorrow it starts to
drift eastwards, allowing the edge of a low pressure area,
centred to the north of the UK, to move down across the
UK. That low is likely to reach us by the weekend.
Precipitation:
Today, tomorrow,
and Thursday will be dry with good sunny periods.
Friday will be dry in the morning but a band of light rain
will move across us, from the north west, in the
afternoon, dying out during the evening.
Saturday should have light rain in the morning, rain in
the afternoon and becoming dry in the evening.
Wind:
Today it will be
calm to light (average 4-7 MPH) but could be from any
direction as it constantly changes throughout the day.
Tomorrow it will be south easterly, light (average 4-7
MPH), veering southerly during the afternoon.

Update
on Wednesday 14th March 2012
Features:
The centre of the
high pressure over us is now just to our east and will
continue to move eastwards to be over mainland Europe. A
low pressure area, centred to our north west, will start
moving south over the UK and the southern edge should just
touch us on Friday. However, a new high pressure is
developing to our south west, over the Azores, and this
will eventually push the low out of the way and we will
return to high pressure.
Precipitation:
Today and
tomorrow (Thursday) will remain dry and will still have
some sunny periods, although less than in recent days.
Friday, after a little light rain overnight, will have
some patchy light rain in the morning, rain in the early
afternoon, light rain in the late afternoon, then becoming
dry for the evening.
Saturday should have light showers in the morning, heavy
showers in the afternoon and a few light snow showers in
the evening.
Sunday should be dry all day.
Wind:
Today it will be
south easterly, light (average 4-7 MPH), all day.
Tomorrow it will be south easterly, light (average 4-7
MPH), veering south westerly by midday, increasing to
gentle breeze (average 8-12 MPH) in the mid afternoon and
decreasing back to light (average 4-7 MPH) in the evening.

Update
on Thursday 15th March 2012
Features:
Today we still
just have high pressure, with the centre moving further
eastwards. The edge of the low centred to our north east
moves south across the UK tomorrow and the boundary
between the two pressure areas, known as a col, will be
over us. We should have mainly low pressure over the
weekend as a new area of high pressure builds to our south
west, over the Azores and that then pushes the low
pressure out of the way next week.
Precipitation:
Today should
remain dry although there is a very small risk of a little
patchy rain in the early afternoon.
Tomorrow (Friday) will have light rain all day.
Saturday will have light showers in the late morning and
heavier showers in the afternoon. The expectation of snow
in the evening has now receded and the evening should now
be dry.
Sunday should remain dry all day.
Monday should remain dry all day although there is a small
risk of a little light rain in the afternoon.
Wind:
Today it will be
south easterly, light (average 4-7 MPH), veering south
westerly around midday, increasing to gentle breeze
(average 8-12 MPH) in the mid afternoon, and decreasing to
light (average 4-7 MPH) in the evening.
Tomorrow it will start south westerly, light (average 4-7
MPH), increasing to 10 in the mid morning, increasing
further to moderate breeze (average 13-18 MPH) around
midday, and decreasing to gentle breeze (average 8-12 MPH)
in the evening.

Update
on Friday 16th March 2012
Features:
We still have
high pressure today; just. An area of low pressure,
centred to the north east of the UK, is pushing down
across the UK and will be over north Wales today. Tonight
it moves over us and stays for tomorrow. An area of high
pressure, centred to our south west over the Azores, is
building and will push over us on Sunday. This evening a
cold front will cross us from the north west.
Precipitation:
Today will start
dry and be mainly dry during the morning and early
afternoon. However, there may be small patches of light
drizzle from time to time. In the late afternoon a band of
light rain will move in from the north west and that will
stay with us for the evening.
Tomorrow (Saturday), after overnight light rain, there
will be light showers all day.
Sunday will have a little light rain in the morning but
will become dry and sunny/clear in the afternoon and
evening.
Monday and Tuesday should be dry and sunny all day.
Wind:
Today it will
start south westerly, light (average 4-7 MPH), increasing
to gentle breeze (average 8-12 MPH) in the mid morning,
backing southerly in the early evening and then veering
back to south westerly in the late evening.
Tomorrow it will be south easterly, light (average 4-7
MPH), veering south westerly around midday and increasing
to gentle breeze (average 8-12 MPH) during the afternoon.
